I already have your original 05-09 MGW shifter, Would it be worth the upgrade?

In the picture it says $250 ... I was on the pre-order list for the original one and we got a discount for being on the list , and that seems like about what I paid for it then. I have to say it's the best shifter I've ever had ...

well the main upgrades are the ease of install and it is a bit more refined in the link to the tranny and alignment but mainly the ***** of instaling and the trimness of the new unit so not really sure its worth upgrading after you have already installed it.

George can we get some more info on the changes in the design? Maybe elaborate on the change in the rear section of the shifter.

It looks like the rear mount allows the shifter to twist with the drivetrain a bit now.

Here is my main question. The way the current MGW is set up with the heavy centering springs, (one of the reasons that I bought the MGW) I sometimes have a tough time going into first & or second. I have to pull hard to the left and push/pull with some force for it to slide in, especially when the tranny is cold. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the design of the rear mount and if the new shifter is more refined in that area resolving some of this issue. I do understand how difficult it must be to get a shifter to work when it is both mounted to the body of the car and the tranny, a lot of movement going on there under high torque situations. But if that is the case & it is more refined there allowing for easier shifting then I might be interested in the investment.

I hate missing second

Looks that way to me also. I have no reason to "upgrade" since I can't see how it can be any better than what I have. Maybe it's a benefit to the blower guys.
