I have been asked the question about making extra discs for the Boss and would like to gauge interest in them. I cut discs out of aluminum stock to test here but they are not for long term use.

now I am trying to make a set from stainless steel 20 gauge. This is a lot harder to cut and I found myself bending the metal. So with a friends help I had a local shop do the work. Ordering many at a time has cut way down on costs then getting just a few cut.

The holes can be made 1/2, 3/4 or whatever size also blank and you can drill the holes you want.

Edit, the discs are 18 gauge and came out very nice - pictured below. Drilling the blanks at this gauge will be hard if you do not have the proper equipment. Please let me know here or by PM if anyone else would like any. $27 per set shipped US Mail, each extra set $18 no additional shipping charges. Ford sells them at $30 a set with the 5/16 holes, these are thicker and stainless steel. The price does include extra to cover my costs.

Tools needed. 15MM wrench and 15MM socket and ratchet(I used a deep well so I wouldnt have to use an extension)

Step one raise vehicle I used a set of car ramps

Step two remove the two nuts at the flange and the bolt that holds the tip near the rocker panel edge


Step Three remove the side pipe assembly

Step four remove stock restrictor plate (if not installing a different sized plate skip to step six)

Step five install new sized restrictor plate (3/4" plate shown in picture)

Step six re install side pipe by first slipping over studs on flange then threading the rear bolt and loosely tighten bolt and nuts. check clearance you should be able to get you hand around the pipe from front to back adjust as necessary. Once clearance is good tighten all nuts and bolt down and recheck clearance.


Step seven repeat steps one-six for opposite side then lower vehicle and you are done. now wasnt that easy?

Yes, I would pay $10 or so for an extra set of Plates. (blanks)
laser cutting a few sheets of blanks may be cost effective.

start small, can always make the whole bigger... 3/4" isn't much different (if at all) from no plates. You can tune in 1/16" increments and notice a difference (inside and outside the car).

I work at a place with a laser cutter. I have to find out what a sheet of 20 gauge stainless steel goes for and I could cut whatever is needed. I don't currently have my car, so I don't have anything to base the drawing off of to make a test part. Nor do I have anything to test it on to make sure it fits first. I'll look into the cost and see what it will run and will let you know

Interested in one set at 1/2 to 3/4 in size. (I've got too many close neighbors, and the cops cruise my street on a regular basis).

Not worried about growling in the country but I'm in for varying acoustics, 1/2 sounds good to me.
