I have a 2013 GT 6 Speed Man with 3.73 rear and JLT CAI with a JPC Racing tune. No other mods. I love the car. Not a DD. The CAI with a tune really woke the car up.

I like the changes that Ford has made to the 2015 GT from a performance standpoint. All the changes are positive but they are essentially small. My problem is that the changes are not enough to get me to order a new one. I would probably get the Performance Pack as my only option.

Do you think that Ford will get to the 475 HP range within the next 2-3 years?

I am trying to keep the bottom line cost of the car reasonable and I am willing to wait till the 2nd or 3rd year of production.

Any thoughts.

i see it happening more in the 450-460 range when they bring direct injection to the 5.0.

Yea, I'm holding out for a 16 GT350 (or whatever they'll call it). If it's around 50k, 475hp, different look than the plain GT & better brakes/suspension. If that car gets built I'd order one FOR SURE. I don't really care about the ultra HP & cost that would be a replacement for the GT500. Scott

Since I really regret selling my 05, my next mustang will be the one I keep forever, or for a really long time so I will probably go with the 15. If I were in your shoes I would realize there is always going to be something newer and "better" comming out so I would be content.

If you love your current car, I'd keep driving it. You'll get killed on the depreciation if you change now and as you say, there are no great leaps forward with the 2015. Probably everything about the new car is going to be a little better than the current one, but it's doubtful that anything is going to be a night and day difference. If you had a pre-Coyote Mustang I'd be singing a different tune.

193hp V6s to 305
260hp GTs to 420
390hp SVTs to 662hp! (*edit, I was going back to 2001 in my head...)
All in the span in under 10 years.


There will always be something better, different, and/or exciting coming.

Pff the amount of "benefits" for the huge amount of financial loss is not worth it, unless the urge of owning it is stronger then the amount of loss you will take, personally the new car doesn't scream "must have!" To me. I also was counting on how much it would cost me if I wanted to trade in for the Scat Pack Challenger , the numbers are horrible, my car was 39k with tax, still got 2500 to pay off. Trade in value in at 28500, minus the 2500 I still own, total trade in value at 26k. Scat pack with the options I wanted is around 43k with tax. That's about 17k to finance.
Pay 17k on the new car, plus total loss of 14k from the current car( plus about 4-5k in parts also)
Making it total of 31-36k loss if its all said and done.
Personally I'm greatful for what I have, and rationally the loss in money just would hunt me forever.
I don't understand how some people pull of changing cars every 2-4 years, either debt looms over there head constantly , or they got great income to exchange toys often.

Have you guys ever driven high horse power small engines that are NA?

I have and they really aren't very much fun on the street. They are great on the race track but revving the **** out of motor to get to the power band gets old really fast. Remember Honda sold the original s2000 with a 10k rev limit a year or two later they retuned the motor for a lower rpm with more torque and I believe less hp. RPM makes big hp numbers look at F1 spinning at 14k and up. My point is I don't want Ford to build 475 hp NA engines. They are doing wonders with variable cam timing but that is limited in the amount of torque it is going to make. I would much rather have turbo v6 or a bigger but slower revving V8. The V8 with 100mm bore center can only get so big they are saying 5.2 liters that isn't going to make lot more hp unless you rev the motor higher. I'll SC my 2015 because that huge torque curve is what makes driving fun.
