2015 Photoshop/Rendering Thread

Needs more hips and muscle in rear, even the dainty '65 had that. I like the eve as well. Put an aerodynamically tweaked mustang face in their and tri-bar tail-lights and we are on to something. As far as RETRO, I prefer to think of the retrostang as the reset for Mustang. Now evolve it as per 911 or Aston Design and I think you might just have the way forward for the next Mustang and the next and the next....

Time to bump this thread back to the top. This is my feeble attempt to transform the EVOS Concept into a Mustang. Apart from the c-scoop, I was going for a '69-'70 inspired look. I didn't attempt it, but if the gas cap stayed on the c-pillar, it'd be neat if it had the black, running Mustang emblem to mimic the old '69 sportsroof medallions. I'm a n00b at photo editing so I'd love to see what someone more capable could do...

To each his own. I assumed most didn't like it either since there weren't many comments on it. I think it just comes down to how much you think the car should actually look like a Mustang. If the rendering you posted is something that you actually made, I apologize. I thought you were just cross posting it from somewhere else. I have a hard time reconciling what the rear of my own crude rendition would look like. The EVOS is pretty ugly in that regard but I'd love to see something akin to the original rendering Burningman was doing.

I believe somewhere between these two concepts lies our next Mustang. I do not think it is any coincidence that the Evos features a similar fastback roofline as the GR-1 concept from a few years ago.

Wow a perfectly ruined grille! It looks fornicated with the squared edges. All it needed was a running pony with no other changes... Quarter window shape is all wrong... Think 1970 Torino or the Shelby GR-1 Concept from a few years ago... I think at this point we can leave the bodyside scoops in the past as it never made any difference if there were there are not on the 1969-70 models.

Wow... The best part of the Evos went away in this rendering and that was the muscular rear quarter bulges... This looks more like an econo hatchback from the 1980's... A full fastback Mustang design simply is not going to work without aggressive shoulders and wide haunches...

I can't help but thinking that the designers of the Evos concept had a (future) Mustang very much in the back of their mind when they drew this up. I see a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle Mustang cues in the Evos, including:
However, to apply this Concept's design language to a NextStang would only take a minimal of tweaks and customization really, including:
- Front end in terms of the grill shape (kind of a reversed, single opening GT500) and headlight relationship.
- Extended power dome ala the '69-'70 Stang hood.
- Overall shoulder line shape and hips.
- Character line along the sides extending back to the rear haunches/hips.
- Full fastback shape, ala the '67-'68 Stang.
However, to apply this Concept's design language to a NextStang would only take a minimal of tweaks and customization really, including:
- Lengthening the front end/hood to accomodate a big, longitudinally-mounted V8 and get those distinctive Pony Car proportions.
- Flip the grill shape over and deepen it a bit, plus add a running pony in there someplace.
- Incorporate a C-scallop element into the sides
- Increase the prominence of the "hip" element a bit.
- Render the rear lights with a tri-lens arrangement within.
- Round Mustang medallion between lights.

rhumb, you speak with the wisdom of Yoda and write with the lightsaber pen skills of Master Windu.
I concur with you and wrote a little article about it. Like to hear? Here it goes...

I don't see a reason to get rid of the "C".....it isn't so much retro as a styling continuation, a thead that connects, kind of like the kidney grill on a BMW. It changes with every evolution.

I might digress in one of two areas, but of course, all this is speculation at this point so who knows who will be proved more accurate:
I don't think the 2015 will have much of the Giugiaro Concept influence. That will be nearly 8 years old when the 2015 gets released mid '14 and that Concept was more, I think, a personal interpretation rather than something more deeply reflecting Ford's own design themes. If it did influence anything, then it was more likely the 2010 refresh.
I'll stand by my current supposition that the 2015 will more resemble a stretched and tweaked Evos than anything else, which would be just fine in my book as I think the Evos is a great looking design theme concept.
