Hmm looks like the side skirts are painted too. Interesting looking rear valance. I'm pretty excited for this refresh!

I would not read too much into the vinyl taped-on reflectors affixed to the bottom of the rear bra. They are required to be there for the prototype to be legally street driven. You have to remember they are disguising the new taillamps with mesh sewn into the bra that is probably hiding the actual reflectors built into the tailllamps. The actual reflectors are functionless behind the mesh with only light being able to show through during braking, turn signals and running lamps.
However,
I see red reflectors built in to the bottom diffuser.

Good catch. Aside from the changes to the rear end for exhaust and spoiler, the brake lights should be the same for all models, right?
What is the source for these pictures, and does it have any more info?

Red reflector or body colored plastic?

http://mustangsdaily.com/blog/2011/0...-exhaust-tips/

After our inside sources informed us that the 2013 Mustang would be getting several styling cues from the Shelby GT500, among other updates, we were left wondering what Ford and SVT would do to set the 2013 GT500 apart. The latest batch of spy photos give us a little bit of a clue, showing that the Shelby will be getting a makeover as well. A Shelby GT500 Convertible prototype was caught out testing, and a photo of the back end of the car reveals a set of quad exhaust tips protruding from the rear fascia. The extra set of exhaust tips could be a purely cosmetic change, but knowing Ford they could be functional as well. Our hope is that something similar to the Boss 302′s quad exhaust setup has been carried over to the Shelby.

In addition to a new look, which should be fairly extensive, the 2013 Shelby GT500 is also expected to get a significant increase in horsepower. Past reports have indicated a twin-turbo version of the 5.0-liter V8 could be under the hood, but most likely a reworked version of the aluminum block 5.4-liter V8 will remain in place, perhaps with an upgraded supercharger system or an increase in displacement to 5.8-liters. Finally, the suspension will likely be tweaked as well, with the 2013 Shelby having undergone testing at the Nürburgring in Germany earlier in the summer.

We will bring you more details about the 2013 Shelby GT500 as we get them, and expect to see the final production version at an auto show later this year, perhaps in Detroit in January.

Those are reflectors. If you look carefully, it appears that GT500 mule is black.

I'm still convinced that red mule was a Boss 302 mule.

I'm good with the rear of the car except the rear cam should not have been put into the spoiler. Many people don't want a spoiler or would prefer an aftermarket spoiler. Thats why I didn't get the camera on my car although I really wanted it. I really like the quad exhaust, thats nice. The thing I hate the most about any car, inside or outside, is something that looks like an afterthought. Camaro for example has those reverse lights in the bumper, looks to me like they finished the car and the guy from DOT said where are the reverse lights? Somebody said Oh! hang on a sec and stuck that crap on. I hate that kind of look. For me, at this point Ford has done pretty well. Keep up the good work.

Merged the '13 mule sightings and '13 refresh threads since we've had a lot of duplication between the two. Let's not start any new threads on the topic and try to keep the info in here.

The 2013 Refresh and 2015 Redesign have created some confusion.
Is there a chance of Direct Injection on the GT in 2013, or is this widely considered to be a 2015 feature?

Good eye... So the rear reflectors will indeed be located in the rear valance which happens to be the required location for EU certified vehicles. The way they look will be quite similar to the updated Taurus and the location that is being used with each new Ford model as they are being updated.

I don't think it will be either as Ford has stated the benefits don't outweigh the costs in the case of the coyote...

I think this mule has multiple color body panels -- one of the reasons to use camo!

Found a mule uncovered, you can see the GT500 styling ques. Also looks like it lost some weight.

I think I still see the silly black plastic cladding around the quad exhaust outlets, definitely not as shiny as the side skirts. If Ford paints the side skirts, they need to paint the entire rear valance as well.

Yikes! The model is probably about 4'8"... so that 50% mule can fit under some of the vehicles I've driven.

That does tend to scar the retinas--
