High pass filter on rear deck speakers?

I'm having trouble blending a trunk mounted subwoofer with the rest of my system. I used the rear deck speakers signal to feed the subwoofer ( w/low-pass x-over). I've got to set the crossover really low ~40 Hz, and crank the gain or I end up with a large hump in the upper bass. Does anyone know if there is a high pass filter on the rear speakers?

The system:
Stock Shaker HU
Audio Control LC6
JL C5 3 way components in the doors
JL 5 channel amp
Parts express ultimax 10" sub
Zen Enclosure

Sounds like bass rolloff bit the LC6 should help with that.
