Talking 06H481 9/29-10/01 the Las Vegas show car

Long trip report post. The two dashed parts are only about the car. Photo link at end.

It was too expensive to have our cars shipped from New Jersey so we did the next best thing. Rented a show car!!
We picked it up at the airport Friday morning. No problem, but they have a manager come out and fill out a checklist. They don't want any badging to go missing.
We drove out to Red Rock Canyon. These are the mountains to the west of Las Vegas. From the visitors center there is a 13 mile loop with parking areas along the way.
You can pull over and stop anywhere on the loop, but some hiking trails leave from these lots. It was mid-afternoon so we didn't see much wildlife.
There was something on the side of the road. Yay good zoom!!
After Red Rock we drove out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Because they have driving schools you can usually drive right into the infield. We did and found not only The Richard Petty Driving Experience (which we have done there) open ,but also Andretti Driving Scholl had there cars out.
The car gets a lot of attention. We got constant thumbs up and comments wherever we were. It can definately draw a crowd.

Now for the part you care about.

---I-15 runs next to the speedway. We took the car up to 110MPH. It was constant, steady accelleration and the car was very stable. You hardly noticed you were at 110 because the car was so smooth. We dropped it down to a more acceptable speed and went to the Stardust to get registered.
You can't drive this car by feel. It is so smooth you will not realize how fast you are going. Many smiles from cars we passed.

Our cousin lives in Las Vegas and has our 2001 Mineral GT. We stopped at Wal-Mart for cleaning supplies and spent the rest of the night at our hotel(not the Stardust).

Saturday: stop at a recommended car wash, get to the show, detail the engine compartment. Of a rental. The car gets a lot of attention. Pictures, chatting, the usual things you do at a show. Light car turnout though. We get asked if our car can be used for a display the host club wants to do Sunday morning and we agree. Dinner with friends and family and back to our hotel.

Sunday: Get to the show. Our car is going to be on the end when you first enter the Pavillion. This is where the thoroughbred, concourse, and unrestored cars are. It's also where the food is and the awards. We had the hood up for someone taking pictures and Mary Jean from Mustang Times took pictures of me wiping the engine compartment. Of our rental.
We didn't win anything, weren't expecting to in our class. Our cousin did take second in daily driver with her Mineral '01.

The other part you care about:

---Another speed run on I-15, this time to 125mph. Still a smooth ride. There seemed to be some hesitation from 115 to 125 but since you wouldn't do this all the time, it wasn't a big deal.

Spent some time at The Flamingo on the strip had dinner and brought the car back for a 10PM flight back east.

A few photos. PM me and I'll send you a link to the whole albulm.
