I'm always telling people to wait on the 2015 Mustang but I can't really like what I've seen so far. I was offered a good deal on a new 2014 GT premium Brembo Auto and I'm really wanting it. I can always pick up a S550 in 2 or 3 years if it looks better. I never ask for advice but I need a little to help the decision making process.

What more do you need?

I have a Brembo auto and it's awesome.

Pick it up and enjoy the best of the S197, and that will put you in a nice position to pick up a facelifted S550 in 4-5 years, with all the bugs worked out.

I was the same way, exactly, except I was telling people I was actually buying a 2015. But I spent the winter looking at this forum and others, and side-by-side photos of 14 & 15. Ended up realizing I liked the styling on the 14 better, it's got more muscle-car-ness. Then I saw the incentives and the dealer made it impossible to say no, so I ordered. If there's one sitting there that you want, I say go for it.

The s550 looks great if you like the GTR or 370z. There are many similarities. It really is like a GTR with a fusion front end. I don't hate it. I do agree with the others in that I like the classic muscle car look of the 2014. Sadly the 2015 will be lighter with more HP so it will walk our 2014's but that is OK. That is why we have superchargers. :-) The good news is our supercharger it's should start coming down in price a bit with the release of the 2015's. :-)

I think the S550 is a fantastic looking Mustang... as long as you start from just past the headlights. That front facsia is just.. not right. The rest of the car, though, heck to the yeah. If they'd put the 2014 front on that car (styling wise, of course) then it would be dang near as perfect as you can get.

I get the whole 'One Ford' thing, but really. Even Challenger ditched the crosshair for Dodge.

/And I have to say, about that S550 rear end treatment...?

I really don't like the look of the 2015 so far, so right now I'd go with a 2014 if I were in your shoes.

The thing about the 2015 is it may end up being like the 2010, and when Ford answers whatever GM does with the Camaro in 2016, the 2015 may already be behind the 2016+ Mustangs. The beauty of the 2014 is you get the last year of the S197 with most of the kinks worked out. You are also getting a new car that is relatively easy to make more power with just bolt-ons and tuning; all while you can sit back and watch what happens with the S550 in its first few years, and when 2016-17 model years come around you can always trade it in for the newer car.

This is all my way of thinking. My wife and I actually waited for the S550 reveal before we decided to get a 2014.

Good luck with whatever you decide. The S550 will be a great platform, but I personally hate getting the first year of a new model; and anticipate that the 2015 will have a lot in common with the 2010.

I would wait. I bet ford changes front end for 2016. They have got to hear all the negative feedback.

I picked up a 2014 GT Premium but I am still wanting the 2015/2016 as well. Picking the 2014 up gives me time to ensure all the bugs get worked out of the 2015, see what new power trains are coming out and see what the new special editions will be. In the meantime I'm driving a fantastic car!!

FYI, since you're posting in the S197 forum, you might get a little bias!

I love my 2014, and will hold onto it for awhile. But I admit I sometimes pause and wonder if I should have waited that extra year. I think the 2015 looks great too - and I'm dying to find out how it handles (not that my 2014 is any slouch)!

At first seeing the new 2015 and having gotten a new better paying job I was all gung ho about buying it. Planned on selling my 2011 at the end of summer and picking up the 2015. But after finally spending some quality time with my 2011 after the winter I've decided to forego that decision and hold on to my 2011 for a while longer and put a blower on it instead.

Well in my case as much as I wanted to be the first lined up for 2015, after really looking at my situation, I wasnt going to be able to afford one for another couple of years. I had a 2012 gt base auto and after looking around the 2014s had some killer rebates and discounts. So being that I settled for my 2012 because all I only cared for having a gt (in sense of color, and package) coming from a 04 v6; I decided to get myself a 2014 in the color and package I wanted (plus really liking the newer refresh). I got a 2014 gt manual in GHIG with the FR8 package(19" black and machined finished wheels, color matched louvers, gloss black mirror covers, and gloss black oem spoiler). I couldnt be happier and even though I may gawk at the new one when I finally see it in person, I m very happy and satisfied with my car.

On another note after getting my car, a friend fell in love with it and now is trying to get one as well. He asked me the same question and I told him, unless you plan and can afford to pay sticker on a new 2015, take the sweet deal their offering u on the car u want now. He decided to pull the trigger on a new 2014 race red california special manual with comfort package, and 3.73 gears for 31500.

My vote will fall into the minority which is no big surprise. I’m not a huge fan of the Fusionesc appearing front end but when it’s all said and done, the Fusion has a fairly aggressive appearing front fascia and in its own right is not an ugly car. I just hoped for more individual identity for the Mustang, which it’s nearly always had. The rest of the Mustangs’ new lines are a total hit IMO. Set appearance aside for a minute: The 2015 is much more refined car than what we have today. It has a redesigned front suspension, independent rear suspension and it’s reported that it will have more HP. In the performance world it’s going to kick the bootie out of its predecessors. From the pix I’ve seen the interior is a vast upgrade over what we have today as well.

Thanks for the replies guys. I know the 2014 is a solid car and the 2015 is still a big question mark. My dealer will have the 2015 in the first week of October and if I wait my choice of 2014's will be getting slim.

You are right about the stampede getting slimmer. My friend wanted a race red manual cali special and there is only 3 in the entire state of Texas. If u decide on a 2014, go for it now because if u wait u ll probably get a better deal once the 2015s out but its going to be slim picking.

Whats wrong with your 2011?
What do you gain by going to a 2014 for yourself?

Agreed, what you see is what you get until a midcycle refresh, probably in model year 2018/2019.

Lots of reasons not to get a '15, even if it will outhandle, outclass, and outperform our 2014s and has a little better interior:

1) You'll pay sticker for it
2) First year bugs
3) It will become dated within its own generation (look at an '05 today...)
4) Ford took out features we currently have (such as xenons) and you will have to pay for them to add them
5) Option packages/contents will likely get better each year, manufacturers always do this with each body style - new body style arrives, take out a bunch of features, then add them back in incrementally each year until a new body style is coming out, then rinse and repeat.
6) The early S550 will be the black sheep since Ford will be increasing the performance after a year or two with direct injection, etc...so even though the '15 will be faster than our '14s, the '15 will be a black sheep within the S550

I've mentioned this before, but the way I see it - I'll never compare my '14 to any Mustang except others within the same bodystyle/platform, so I only ever compare mine to other S197s, and feel that I got the best of the body style by buying the last year. If I bought a '15, I would just end up comparing it to the '16, '17, '18, etc., feeling more envious each year, especially when it comes time for a cosmetic facelift halfway through the body style. So for me it's get the '14 and be content, or get the '15 and be envious.
