Im waiting until the proposed "Voodoo" v8 makes its way into the S550 then make a choice on staying S197, going new with S550, goin back to an 03-04 cobra or mach 1, or heck even the 2015 challenger!

I usually trade every 3 years after the b to b warranty expires. My 2011 is a good car and whoever buys it will be very happy. The s550 has kinda thrown a wrench in my plan.

2015 Scat Pack Dodge Challenger 6.4
That's what I would buy if I had to choose to buy a car at this given moment.

I wouldn't by it because of the name "scat."

If they take some weight off that boat with wheels, that would be great to have it, since the 392 is in the R/T again.

No Fustang or Probe 2 for me. The front end is ugly. Ford tried uglifying the Mustang in the 90's with the Probe and we know how that went. The 'stylists' have finally won and are giving us one ugly car. My guess is Ford will refuse to restyle it until the sales numbers are minimal - they can't be wrong. Remember the 58 Thunderbird how Ford destroyed their 'sports car' that was superior to the Corvette. Compare the T-Bird and the Corvette today - another big mistake by Ford. The replacement for my 10 GT will not be Fustang. A Challenger or maybe a Corvette, but no Fustang.

If those are your choices then Corvette for sure. Challenger looks like a blob on wheels. Plus that body is a little long in the tooth now

The beauty of the 2014 is you get the last year of the S197 with most of the kinks worked out. You are also getting a new car that is relatively easy to make more power with just bolt-ons and tuning; all while you can sit back and watch what happens with the S550 in its first few years, and when 2016-17 model years come around you can always trade it in for the newer car.

This is all my way of thinking. My wife and I actually waited for the S550 reveal before we decided to get a 2014.

Good luck with whatever you decide. The S550 will be a great platform, but I personally hate getting the first year of a new model; and anticipate that the 2015 will have a lot in common with the 2010.
I have to agree with some of what your saying. I've read the late build 2015 or the 2016 will have a new 8-10 speed automatic. Maybe the manual transmission will be changed too. Just saying.....

There could also be a HP increase. Waiting a year or more could be a good thing.

If my 2011 were destroyed and I had the money right now to go ahead and replace it, it would be a hard decision. I think the 2015 is going to be superior in almost every way, but there is no glass roof option for 2015. I love my glass roof and would hate to give it up. So I guess I'd wait to make a decision until I found out if Ford is going to add the glass roof for 2016 or if it's gone for good.

As for the people mentioning the Corvette, of course the Corvette is better. It should be, the base price is about double that of the Mustang.

A lot of great feedback here. I suspect it might really come down to a question of styling. If you really like the styling of the 15 better than the current generation, then take the plunge and wait to pick one up in October. It is very possible you will pay MSRP (some dealers might even charge a premium), and you would likely be one of the first people to have one. If you can wait a few years - then pick up a 14 and enjoy the great discounts, hold on to it for about 3 years or so, and then trade it in for the new generation version, one that likely has any new model bugs worked out!

I was in the same boat. I'd originally looked at the '13s but bought a stupid Civic Si instead. I thought I'd wait until the '15s but I had the same thoughts about 1st year bugs and ridiculous prices. I'd be willing to bet that even if the enthusiast crowd is still warming to the new model, it'll attract 1st time Mustang buyers in big numbers. So I got a '14 GT nice and cheap and am having a blast.

2014 now and a 2017 or 2018 later if you can afford to do that. They will probably update the drive train by then because that's what Ford does.

What they say about don't buy the first model year, wait until the kinks are worked out. I usually heed that advice, but didn't on the 2012 Focus. It only took them about 2 years to get the bugs worked out of the MFT system. It would literally freeze and stop working = no music, no heater/AC, paralyzed the car. And about 1.5years to get the tranny to be tolerable - but still not right. Seems I'd need a new clutch pack to fix it. And a few recalls and numerous TSBs... NEVER again would I buy a 1st model year car.

By contrast, I also bought a 2012 mustang and it's never had a big problem. Only thing I've done to it in 2 years is flash the MFT system with an update that made my new phone work with it.

Ditto. That should not be used to describe anything good on a car.
