Spare Tire Option for 2011 V6 ??
#81
I didn't purchase my car until October 2nd and got the part number on this forum from you. My problem was my local ford dealer kept saying the tire didn't come with the kit. They finally looked beyond the schematic of the kit and read discreption, which said the tire came with the kit. When I ordered the spare kit from the fordparts.com web site I was hoping it would come straight to me and not through my ford dealer as I have no confidence in their parts dept. It's been 2 1/2 weeks now and I still don't have.

Considering Ford thought most people wouldn't miss having a spare in their car, they could have grossly underestimated how many to make. But they'll catch up.
I won't be surprised if the price goes up at some point. The low (compared to other part pricing) $195 list price may be temporary to avoid already angry spare-less buyers from complaining again about high prices. If they notified all the squeaky wheels like NightSteel the price could go up after enough time passes for all of them to order one.

Mustang spare tire info
Here is the latest that I have come up with:
Jefferson Motor Company (Ford Dealer)
Jefferson, GA
c/o Keith in parts department
http://jeffersonmotorco.dealerconnection.com/
$150.00 FOB + local sales tax (Georgia)
Mustang spare tire kit. Ford part number: CR3Z-1K007-A
Telephone: (404)523-5738 or (706)367-5566
He checked on availability. This does NOT come from Ford, but does come from a Ford Authorized Supplier - Directly to the dealership.
So, I ordered my kit today. It should be here not later than Friday!
I will still be carrying my pump and canned Viagra along with my plug kit. On the rural roadways in Georgia, it is always best to be prepared.

I think this is a good discussion. I've had a flat in the middle of the night and in the middle of nowhere.
My 2011 Brembo didn't have a spare so I negotiated for one. The salesman "borrowed" one from another car on the lot (a 2007 GT). I also kept the "pump" thing.
It got me home (albeit, slowly). The trunk:

I just claimed my Mustang Mini Spare Kit yesterday and the label indicates an actual weight of 47.1 lbs with box dimensions measured at 25" x 25" x 13.5".

My 2011 V6 Premium vert came with a spare tire and felt wrapped tool kit..no pump or slime kit. Problem is..the center bolt that holds tire down is about 2" too long and has pushed up through the cover over the tire into the trunk!?

A $3.00 walmart hacksaw and a $1.99 Autozone vacuum tube cap should take care of that!

Did they start with a spare and they remove it later in the model year? Not sure why mine has one.

Clue, look at the image on post #45 of this thread. Notice the cap on the center bolt. The cap is included on every mustang regardless of whether it's equipped with an inflator kit or spare. The cap is also included with the Mustang Mini Spare Kit. It is needed to support the package tray. If I hadn't tossed the packaging from mine I could supply the part number. I believe that Ford refers to this cap as a retainer.

Aha...yeah I don't have that part to support the floor. And now there is hole in the cardboard/fiberboard...but not all the way up the carpet. The carpet is just strectched really thin there. I'll look under the tire to see if it just fell off. I didn't think about the fact that if I cut bolt off nothing is supporting the floor in the center.

Still haven't looked to see if I have that little support..but if not I'm sure I could make something. I did use the www.inventory.ford.com site and punched in my VIN. It lists an option as "17" MINI SPARE TIRE/WHL $100" on the original sticker. Not sure why they are so much more after the fact.
