radio does not recognize my usb?

I put some music on a 1gig usb thumb drive and it said something to the effect it cannot play music from it. Any ideas what this might be?

Mine did that the first time I plugged it in on both the Taurus and Mustang. Second time it worked (on both). I didn't pay any attention to what format it is... whatever is 'standard' from Windows Media Player.

Yes, I had issues at first as well. I think it has to "Index" the songs? I've only just now got it to start playing the USB when I start the car, and play them in order. It's in that Synch manual, sit down with that. I hope that helps?

Ok the format did not work. It is saying the usb device does not support protected files or something to that affect. I am guessing i need a new usb drive. Can anyone conform this?

Thanks

If the song is protected... then you can't transfer it to other devices.

Get itunes & an ipod. It's headache free.
I just use an ipod strictly for my car and just leave it in there.
They're really not that expensive... as you can get one for ~$100

Or you can try this as it's a popular choice for 'free...' downloads and just save them to your flash drive.

So if i get an ipod will i be able to load my existing music and play it or will i need to buy music directly from itunes to play. Sorry for the stupid questions. I just figured it would work to load up a usb drive and play it.

Mine did the same thing. iPod worked, then it wouldn't recognize my USB or my iPod. I bought 2 different kind of drives, and still nothing.

I pulled the fuse, and still nothing.

I finally did a Master reset (I have the NAV), and it fixed the problem. However, I lost all my Sirius memos... Mess around with that reset...

No problems since.

You can add your own music to your itunes library then sync it wih your ipod. No need to purchase via itunes.
