^ this.. there’s no ‘64 ˝ and won’t be a ‘14 ˝

'64 1/2? Ford thinks so!

Don't know about you but Ford still considers the first mustang as '64 1/2. Also evidence of the previous MY anniversary editions....

Please notice that the VIN of that 1st Mustang starts with a "5", as in 1965. So, even though public lore calls the early 1965 Mustangs "64 1/2's, they are still technically & legally 1965 models. Even modern day writers for Ford's media site have been lulled into calling the early '65's by the 64 1/2 nickname, but that doesn't mean that it's true.

I got to thinking about the new 2014 options (541 and 542, V6 & GT Appearance Packages), and I started thinking back to the 2004 Mustangs that got V6 and GT appearance packages celebrating the 40th anniversary of Mustang's introduction in 1964. The 2004's had gold LeMans stripes, gold wheels, rear spoiler delete, and plaques on the dash ahead of the shifter and could be had in white, black, or (unique to this package) crimson red. I sure hope the 2014 Appearance Packages aren't some lame attempt by Ford to recognize the 50th anniversary with just paint and stripes. Let's hope that a factory 50th anniversary tribute has substance that we can appreciate.

The exact 50th Anniversary model should be whichever one is in production on April 17, 2014.

People currently hired to do Ford's public relations are probably not true historians, not true car enthusiasts and probably never lived during the time that history unfolded to know whether or not it's correct. They more than likely hired someone who used to do PR for a company that sold feminine hygiene products.

I sure hope that's not the case.

Surely, whether the date is historically correct or not, the 50th Anniversary should be the all new car. I can't think of a better present to celebrate with

If he did indeed see an Ecoboost 5.0L (doesn't exist anyway) it surely wasn't in a Mustang. It will not psychically fit. Look at how tight a N/A 5.0 is in there; now look for sufficient space to mount two turbos and all the plumbing.

As for the white, I actually like the metallic white on EDGE. Performance white is a little too plain.

Has anyone received any more information on the color black for 2014? I sure hope they don't just only offer a black metallic...

Sounds like you'll just have black, no metallic from what Brian has found.

A twin turbo 5.0 has already been done. In fact the kit is being sold now at pre-production pricing of $8500. The first 20 buyers get a personal visit from Jon Lund who will perform the final tune personally. Not sure if 20 have been sold yet. In the pictures I've seen of the prototype, it looks like artwork; absolutely beautiful. If I was on my Macbook right now instead of using this mobile version, i could give you a linkie or two.

He's referring to Ford offering that motor. Of course the aftermarket has done it.

I got one question only...is there going to be an upgrade to the regular V8 GT to have forged internals?...like the boss 12 & 13 Boss bottom end?

If so, when... not for '14 right?

I got that, but then the part about twin turbos not being possible to "physically fit" in the 5.0 Mustang engine bay spurred my response. Sorry if I sounded acrimonious.
