2012 5.0,lots of smoke cylinder 8 misfire.
Driving home last night I noticed the check engine light flashing on and off. I check my rearview mirror and notice a lot of smoke I thought my car was gonna explode so I put my gun in my waistband grab my wallet and phone take my seat belt off just incase I needed to jump out of the car Lol. I was in The city of Detroit in a really bad area so I drove about 5 minutes to a neighboring city where it's safe. Checked the code and it's a cylinder 8 misfire code. What to do? Any ideas guys?

Later on when I was able to stop I noticed that all the smoke was from the exhaust. There was just so much of it. It seemed like it was on fire lol.

Wow bro if it's not one thing it's another for you. You just finished going through hell with your trans swap and now the other side of it fails for ya. Hope it's something minor and not a blown piston. But with the rate things are going I'd suspect you have a hefty repair bill coming. Good luck man

The symptoms scream cylinder 8 failure to me. Which makes me wonder something. You were having problems with your VCT function after the transmission swap right? Maybe this has something to do with the failure as well. So the whole crux of the issue might not have anything to do with base ignition timing, but rather how the cam timing is handled at various RPM's.
