This could be quite a few things. I agree with David, you should bring it in to your Ford dealer for diagnosis. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to message me with your dealer, VIN, and contact info.

I highly recommend everyone who has any high octane fuel in his blood to get a OBD II scanner. Especially once you go down the road of modding the vehicle. It could be as dmhines says, just a loose gas cap. If it turns out to be a gas cap I believe Ford charges $75 to reset the ECU when a OBD II reader could easily have done it for the same price.
