Looks like a Land Rover. Not a bad thing IMO. Give it a rear-biased torque split AWD system, a lowered stance (SVT tuned), and the EB V6. A shot of "Adrenalin" for hunting the Trailblazer SS, Cherokee SRTs, and maybe the odd Typhoon still out there.

Any idea when the real-deal is supposed to be unveiled? I was hoping at last week's New York Auto Show, but it was not!

Ford announces new advanced traction control for 2011 Explorer

http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-explorer-2011.html

Quote:
Ford has released information on a new-to-Ford advanced traction control system that will make it’s ford debut on the 2011 Explorer. This system replaces the previous three mode system with a more user friendly **** that allows drivers to choose from: normal roads, muddy/rutted roads, snowy roads or sandy roads.
Quote:
The system will make changes to the vehicle’s behavior for the engine, transmission, brakes, wheel rotation speed and more. Ford says this will help drivers in unfamiliar driving conditions, such as snow or sand. When in snow, for example, the system will use more braking to slow the wheels down, where as in sand the system would aim to keep constant wheel movement to avoid becoming stuck.

“People…want an SUV to have the capability to go off road, but because they don’t do it a lot, they don’t know how,” Holland told The Associated Press in a recent interview. “We just want them to feel capable.”

In addition to gaining Land Rover-sourced traction control, the new Explorer will also borrow hill descent assist system, found on the F-150 and F-150 Raptor. This system, engaged by a button found in the middle of the traction control dial, will automatically apply brakes and adjust engine output to slowly descend hills.
I like what I am hearing (reading) . . .

Through April, the current Explorer outsold the boxy, polarizing Flex 19,487 to 12,598.Explorer sales increased 41.2%, while Flex sales increased 16.7%.
This pretty much proves that people still want SUVs over crossovers.

I saw the new Explorer in Detroit last week and it looks great. They are also talking about a 40% increase in fuel economy. It will be nice to seel Explorers again.

We just got rid of my wifes 2007 Edge SEL for a brand new 2010 Explorer Limited for this very reason. The edge is a great CUV and built great but we wanted back in an SUV and the 2010 is a great car. The Nav in the Ford cars is just amazing!!

I saw one driving in my home town Wednesday. It was white with black spots all over it. I actually thought it was the next all new Ford Edge, but we already know what that looks like. Why hide it now?

Who know? LOL. I drove past it too fast to get a good look. LOL

The problem is that the image, which was posted here and picked up by other blogs (Autoblog, Jalopnik, Carscoop, etc.) was edited, leaving the artist's signature out, causing speculation as to whether the image was an official one. My main concern was not the speculation, but rather that in edited form, proper credit was not being given to the artist.

The unedited image which I posted here, came from Caradvice.au and was posted on Autoscoops, via CocheSpias (cool Spanish blog).

Fine forum you have, BTW. I see you have an 'art section', I may just have to post a couple of my Ford sketches there...although I don't have any Mustangs to show you...yet.

It is a very nice image for sure. My kudos to the artist. And thanks for clearing that up.

Maybe you could share some of your sketches. It would be much appreciated. I love looking at cars whether they be real or concepts or artist's interpretations.
