I made it myself. Bought a Harley Davidson gas cap on eBay and "dismantled" it, then used a dremmel tool to cut out a little of the factory cap so it would sink into it a little. Then taped off the new "channel" for the skull and painted the cap flat black with flat clear. JB welded the skull on and done.

Thats pretty sick man. Dez from Silver Mustang Registry told me to look you up for details on your emblem. I want to make one of my own with a different center piece. Did you have to prim the cap first before throwing the black down.

I just got my rear medallion back from the painter today. I had him shoot the chrome with high gloss black paint and leave the GT alone. I think it will look pretty good with my stripes.

I primed both mine and Dez's with a grey etching primer for plastics and metals. I first used a green 3M scratchpad, followed by a small, fine wire wheel on the dremmel, then 800 grit sandpaper to rough up the chrome and give the primer/paint, an nice roughened surface to bond to.
DEZ, that looks sweet on there, really goes good with the chrome 20's, glad it came out good for you

Looks goods, I'm still trying to find a good center piece for mine but that skull looks so **** good. May have to run with it. But I have a couple of ideas that may work so I don't copy you guys

Here's mine.... Heated the back to loosen up the glue on the center and popped it out. Soaked it in bleach for a week to remove the chrome then painted it.

Looks good Rich. The chrome in the GT goes with the pony in the spoiler. And the gloss black goes with the stripes. IMHO

I found these on ebay. Would have to cut an inch off the bottom of the punisher, but the other one is 3 in all around and would fit perfectly. Thoughts????

We moved the kill switch which was on lower rear bumper to the trunk thingy. Not sure why. It was fine where it was???

What did you use to paint it. I'm wanting to paint mine but can't find what paint to use.

Hey I have been following this thread too, I am excited about the possibilities of changing the faux gas cap center, that looks pretty easy. I am wanting to go with a GT 300 theme, side stripes, gas cap and steering wheel center. But has anyone got any ideas on the steering wheel centers yet? The mustang tribar on the GT is raised so a straight stick on overlay would not work unless you do some sanding smoothing to make the surface flat. I was wondering if heat or such would help loosen the glue on it too? As stated the center cap has the air bag under it so care must be taken. But there has to be some way to remove it. Maybe drill through it and inject some achohal or such to soften the glue?

it's not actually glued, there are some metal tabs sticking into the steering wheel, and behind that isnt a flat surface either.

read this thread for more info https://themustangsource.com/showthread.php?t=452290
