ok chris and all, I am sorry for the silly question, but I am not really sure what offset means.. I am assuming offset from something, maybe the center? But does that mean a 24mm or a 40mm would be offset more outwards to get the bigger tire size? I would really like a 295 size tire out back, should I get 24mm up front with 255 and a 40mm out back with a 295? thanks for any help everyone

40mm should "offset" 16mm (a little over half an inch) more toward the car than 24mm.

So, the same wheels on a 40mm offset wouldn't stick out as far as on a 24mm offset, which means you can get away with wider tires without sticking out.

Of course, then you have to worry about rubbing on the inside.

Which is why I want someone else to do the experimenting for me before I buy.

Ok well I would be willing to give the 40mm in the back a try, I am looking for these wheels in black and the only place I can find them is on shelby's site with a 20x9 in 24mm offset. Is there another place?

Also if I can not find 40mm in black I may go with dark gray.. if said I will probably order tonight. I am thinking maybe a 285 would be ok if I go that route.. does everyone think that would be the best choice to go with out back?

*Or would I be best getting 40mm offset all around?? And if I were to get 255 and 285 size tires, what sidewall would be the best for them to be equal? Sorry for all of the questions but I dont want to spend the money to not have it work.

So guys, what is the biggest tire I could "safely" use out back?
I'm thinking of going with a 275/40/18 out back and sticking with 255/45/18 in front.

I would go 285/40/18 in the rear. That would be the closest O.D. to the stock size.

What offset are you referring to with this?

Is that safe on a 18" x 9" wheel?

minimum recomended width for 285 is a 9.5" rim. Even 275's look like there pushing it on a 9" rim.

That's the guinea pig I've been waiting for.

What tires/size are you putting on?
