Called Lanzini Body Works who did the awesome looking stripes on the white 3dCarbon GT. They gave me a price of 2k to 3k. darn man.
But he said it was at least 8 hours of labor just to remove body panels and to layout the masking correctly on the car to make it look right.
And then sand, paint, buff, clear coat basically the entire car so you cant feel the stripes.
Its a lot of work but I don't think I have that kind of cash to pay for shelby stripes. Another rod shop by my house wants $750.00 which I thought was high at first.
I might just have to suffer with vinyl stripes for awhile

Um, Lanzini is not cheap, but they are one of the best in the biz. Thier car just won Best of SEMA. They win ALOT.
They are doing my custom paint job... You think the stripes are bad, LOL Dont ask for a full paint job... the cost will make you faint, but the TIME is enough to kill a horse.
As soon as I sell my first born, I am doing it though. I love thier work, and have met the guys there, they are all top notch. Met them when they were painting the Boy Racer for 3D.

This kind of off topic, but how do the vinyl stripes hold up over time? And if I really want stripes should I just come off the hip for the painted stripes?

So, just how much would Lanzini charge for full paint job? If they are going through that much trouble on the stripes, would it be much worse to do the entire thing?
How much would a "regular" shop charge? Any ballpark figures?

My estimates ran from $2k-$9k I have contacted 5 shops.
Surfn, I am painting her deep metallic amythest (purple) with some cool airbrush that Lanzini is designing. Everyone goes "eew"when they hear purple, but it will not be eww, I promise.
They are charging me $8k (around), includes painting the body kit. the process will take about 8 weeks. Something like 6 coats of clear, etc. Guaranteed work
Oh, and just you know, I am going to bne showing my 05, thats why I am ok putting this kind of work and cash into it.

Takes more time and costs more to simply do things right in the first place. I have said myself it would take 6-8 hours to remove parts and tape those completed full stripes correctly.
Most of the time one gets what ones is willing to pay for.

ALL the body shops I have talked to told me to get black. The colors are going to be Purple/Black. That being the case, it would have been harder for them to paint he entire car purple, then add black to it.
I got my white 99, just cuz I have had white cars in the past, and they are the easiest to maintain.
