I want to remove the silver GT emblem on the trunk between the tail lights and I am curious if you can simply just take it off and re-paint that section [attachmentid=34829]
I attached a pic of what I am looking for.

There are two alignment holes when you take off the badge that need to be filled before you can just paint. If you go with a vinal piece to black out the rear you can jimmy rig it to not show the holes. Then you won't have to go through the trouble of filling them.

Do any of the hard plastic blackout panels come w/o the cutout for the "gas cap"? That might be a good way to go.

I think I heard something about DG motorsports doing a a CF black out with and without the emblem, Im sure they'll do a fiber glass version as well like they do with most things. Just give it time

I am not sure if any come without the emblem hole but I doubt it. Stoic I am not sure I totally understand what you are trying to explain?

One way of making it work would be to use a strong heavy tape (or another piece of the vinyl for that matter) on the back side of the holes. Use a temporary filler on the holes so there will be no indentions once you lay on the vinyl. Once you put on the tape it will be like filling in a dent with bondo, but use something non-permanent that you can take off if you want. Even something simple like a plaster will work. It is easy to smooth out and it will hold it's shape. Then when you lay on the vinyl, it won't show through. I have professionally illustrated a picture to help. Sorry if the picture is too technical
It also just popped in my mind that you may not have access to the backside of the trunk where the holes are drilled so you can lay the back piece of vinyl. No worries, Using a temp filler without it should work too. I took off my friends badge on the side of his mustang because he wanted to put an emblem he designed in vinyl in its place. it worked fine and didn't divot at all.
