Strut Mounts for 'Clunk' 8R3Z-18183-B or M-18183-C - The Mustang Source

Looking at TSB 07-18-1 for the strut mount clunk, it mentions part number 8R3Z-18183-B. Looking online for these they seem harder to find than the M-18183-C part.

I know the one part is a Ford part and the other is a FRPP part, but is one better than the other? I hate to look at the -B vs the -C and assume the FRPP part is like the next generation of the part.

M-18183-C is the latest revision of the strut mount. I installed the -B part last year, maybe a little longer, then right after that the -B's started to get harder to find.

OEM Part has 12/12 Warranty. FRPP Part Does not.

I always liked to Use the 2007-2011 Gt-500 Coupe Strut Mount. Instead of the TSB mounts.They are an UPGRADE. They are Ar3z18183a. Thats what the FRPP M-18183-C's are. Frpp's will be more Cost Effective.

Yeah, I just bought some of the C's from American Muscle, will be installing with a new set of struts shortly....

My Cs from AM will be here Tuesday. I have been getting clunk too so I am installing new everything (Koni STR.Ts, K springs, GT500 mounts).

Bought/installed the M-18183-C and still having the clunk sound. Grrr

I just put mine in with a set of takeoff GT500 struts. Overall, it is definitely an improvement. I'm not sure if I had THE clunk, but my car seemed to clunk numbly over bumps. I initially noticed that it was much better pulling out of my driveway. It doesn't clunk as much and handles sharper. It is still a bit sloppy in general but that's probably just because it's a mustang!

Now the wait to get it into the shop. My friend's shop is swamped this week so I have to wait till next week to get this stuff on.

Are you still running the stock front swaybar? I ask because I had a similar clunk sound on my 2007 GT and it wound up being the front sway bar bushings. I don't think there are zerk fittings on the brackets that contain the bushings, but it's not too hard to remove the assembly and liberally apply silicone grease to the bushings. It wouldn't hurt to add a drop or two of blue Loctite to the fastener threads, either.
