First day at the strip with '13 GT. 12.40 @ 111. Stock tires.
So after 2 months of having my new car I finally got to go racing. My dad and I went out to Woodburn dragstrip here in Oregon and they prepped it just right. The car is a base '13 GT. Came with 3.73 gears and Recaro seats. Only mod is a pair of GT500 mufflers. Got 10 runs in using the stock Pirelli 235 all seasons. 40 psi in front and 32 PSI out back. I was hoping for a 12.7 or 12.8 ET
My impressions of the car:
Stock shifter sucks a lot
Wheel hop is terrifying (luckily it was only bad in 1 run)
GT500 mufflers sound awesome
The new 5.0 makes power all the way to redline
Pirellis stuck well
Could use a little taller tire or more RPM. Hit the limiter in 4th almost every run.
As it shows in the heading I was able to post a time of 12.40 @ 111 with a 1.85 60ft I was absolutely shocked at the 60ft time.
During the day I beat a 2010 Charger SRT8 6.1L, 2012 Challenger SRT 392, and a 2011 Camaro SS
Unfortunately the 12.40 pass was my 8th run and the battery died in my camera after the 7th. Here is a pic of my time slip. Obviously I was car 305. I can't wait to get back out there with the MGW shifter installed.

I have to say Woodburn has always done a hell of a job prepping the track. The MGW is definitely going to help me go faster next time. Thanks for the compliments.

It was in the 70s for all the runs with about 60% humidity. Track is ~180ft. DA was between 1000 and 1200ft throughout all my runs.

Very nicely done. I will have to get out to the strip soon.

My Build thread~~~>http://forums.themustangsource.com/f...stress-511648/
Question about tire pressure. Did you increase the front tires to 40 psi at the track? I have read that lowering the tire pressure to around 25 psi would help with traction and wheel hop on stock tires.
I ran my 2012 GT to the strip for the first time last week (also my first time ever drag racing). Everything stock no performance mods. Both rear and front tires were at the suggested 35 psi.
Are the front tires supposed to be at a higher psi compared to the rears?
First run i spun tires way too much and experienced a lot of wheel hop. Even when shifting to 2nd gear there would still be wheel hop. I found that odd. Track surface is way different than the street as i've come to find out.
So i have a lot of improvement to do. My best run was 13.8 and that was when i turned traction control on. This was at Virginia Motorsports Park.
You can run the front tires at the stock pressure or higher if your looking to minimize rolling resistance, the rears you'll want to run at a lower pressure to increase the foot print - you will have to experiment to see where you get the best traction though.
Be careful how low you do go though since a regular radial does need enough pressure to keep the bead seated on the rim (obviously) to resist both deformation in the sidewall that would spring it from the rim and the tread face that would disrupt contact with the track.
If you have any sort of compressed air tank or compressor be sure and bring it along. Your tires would be considered critically under inflated at 7 psi so be sure and reinflate them before leaving the track
How is the track at Dinwiddie? I've been there for a few events but never raced there since I can hit RDI in 45 minutes on a good day ( despite being a so so track with about an 80 foot elevation and pretty bad humidity at times)

When I finally achieve 12s on my stock GT is when I'll start getting performance mods. I say no point in that if i cant drive. So far i have only a JLT oil separator. And planning on getting GT500 axle backs soon. Hopefully some more practice and cooler weather and i'll get there.
