The cars were

390 AMX
70 LS-6 Chevelle
455 Hurst Olds
Buick GS 455
Hemi Challenger
1969 GTO Judge
and of course the Boss 429

These car's were tested at stock factory configurations. No mods, no tuning, stock bias ply tires, and stock brakes. well you get the idea.
It was also the same driver testing every car out, so it was as accurate as you can get.

The winner was the Boss429 and the Chevelle was the runnerup.

They tested in the following

0-60- Boss429
Slalom- Chevelle
1/4 mile- Boss429
Braking- Chevelle
Burnout- (I missed this part so if anyone can tell)

The winner was the Mustang and got 2nd in both Slalom and Braking. It lost in those 2 by a really close margin.

So by factory specs the Boss429 is the ultimate Muscle car!! Heck it kinda surprised me.

It was practically 5 seconds flat. Like 5.01
1/4 was about 13.7x
I believe the 2nd fastest to 60 was about 5.5, so it was a decent margin considering it was all the same driver with 3 runs on each car.

And remember these runs are on old fashioned Bias ply tires, which have considerably much more rolling resistance than radials.

I wish I had written down all the #'s and rankings :bang:

It means Ford made the better car stock, not some guy who modded up a car to be fast. It matters alot, especially to get an accurate results.

That's not what I meant. Certain models were notoriously underrated for a variety of reasons.

To be fair, the LS6 Chevelle had really tall gears and an automatic and the Challenger had a bum clutch. But the Boss '9 was still damned impressive, especially when you consider how undercarbed those things are from the factory. It even won the Burnout (they used it as a tie breaker between the LS6 and the Boss '9, IIRC).
