2014 Aston Martin Vanquish review

"Movies tell us that international spies only drive their cars for 20 minutes, max, before they blow up. Can Aston Martin build a flagship grand tourer you'd want to keep longer than that?"

$280,000 is a lot for a car thats slower than a $60,000 '13 GT500.

You aren't buying it for the speed.

True that. And as for the less than cutting edge/exciting styling, this is a car James Bond would be driving on a 250kph midnight run down the autostrada from Milan to Monte Carlo for martinis and caviar, not Billy Bob roaring from stoplight to stoplight going down to the local tractor pull for keg beer and corn dogs. So yes, a certain refinement, restraint and sophistication are in order, as would be an 8-figure net worth to afford the thing.

I can't wait to see one in the metal. A always preferred the looks of the DB9 over the DBS..........but this new Vanquish is a big improvement over the DBS

However, as the new DB9 has taken on the looks of the (now defunct) Virage....I really do think the latest DB9 is the better looking car. An Aston doesn't need to shout. This is possible the best looking car ever made, in my opinion.

Do you mean to tell us that you can actually notice the difference in design?

I would agree Paul, The new Vanquish has a little too loud of body work. But I do wish it had a bit more pronounced hips like the older model. But looking at the older model you can see how it is sexy and bold without the any sort of ricer body work.

One thing I must say is I LOVE the new Vanquish tail lights!

As an Aston fan.........yep, I can

Problem is, the orginal DB9 was a stunner..........and it's pretty difficult to improve on perfection

I like the Vanquish but I wish it had a bit more One77 in it.

I'm in love with the new Vaquish...long time aston fan here and yes they are all very distinct cars and IMO easy to tell apart. Love them all and want one of each. Sexiest cars ever made IMO.

Same here. Any car person should be able to a) tell them apart, and b) recognize the familial resemblance.
