Let's see, the dash panel appliqué, the edges of the plate are flat and not rounded, the fonts are wrong, and the numbers and logo are printed not embossed, so it's a fake!

No its just purists that notice things other people do not. Like why is the 2007-2009 GT500 grill snake on the wrong side. All Shelby GT500s had the snake on the Passanger side not the drivers side, even the 2010 has it in the correct position.

Then wouldn't it make more sense to post it in the Shelby section, rather than the general section of the foruim?

I think it is good to point it out. Whether you own a new style Shelby or not, good to know how to spot a fake. May come in handy down the road if you ever get the opportunity to buy one. You won't get duped if you know what to look for.

Then again, I guess thats the sort of crap that makes me LMFAO. Sorta like people who don't consider anything past 1969 to be a "real" Shelby (news for ya' folks. By those standards anything past 1967 is a fake Shelby)

That's why. It wasn't a DEAD giveaway that it was fake, mind you, but more of a big clue. It's just how my mind works, anytime I see that number anymore I automatically think "user-made/fake" even if it's a legit number (ex: someone selling a Mustang with the milage being at "1337").
Then after I see it, I look closer for other signs to prove (or sometimes disprove) my initial suspicion. So, for this, the number came first to call attention to it's authenticity, then the other details you mentioned earlier sealed the deal, Chris.
