Tail light bulbs... Not Available?

Ok I'm not sure really where to put this, so here goes.... I did search but came up with nothing.

My car is just over 2 years old now and today I had the passengerside middle tail light bulb go out. This bulb doubles for turning and braking, ya know... So anyway I remove the bad bulb and head to Autozone looking for the replacement and couldn't find it. I asked the dude behind the counter and he says that it is "not available" and likely that means that Ford hasn't released it yet (?). WTH, do I have to go to Ford to get one of these and probably pay $20 for another generic bulb?

What have you guys done in this situation??

That guy is nuts. That is a standard bulb #3157. No biggie.

Example at Autozone: http://www.autozone.com/N,15701498//...eResultSet.htm

Well see that's what I wondered, but my bulb is stamped 4057, of which they don't have any. Should I just buy some 3157s?

I swapped all of my rear bulbs for Silverstars when I done the CDC Conversion and never been an issue. I got the Silverstars for a door prize and figured why not use them!

Same thing happened to me a few days ago (What a PITA w/ the Shaker1000).. I went to my local dealership and got two 3057 bulbs (the book says 3057 OR 4057) for less then $5.. The Spec on the 3157 is almost the same as the 3057 so I'm sure you will be fine there too... BUT unless you change out all the bulbs for 3157's vs just replace the blow one.. it may be a little dimmer as it is a slightly lower wattage bulb.. but not by much so you may not notice it.

Just some thoughts

Yep, we're on the same page..... I planned to replace all of them on that side anyway while I'm at it.

Dash board lights are always good to replace all at once. My truck (currently out of business) has two of the four bulbs out. I'm hoping to get those changed here soon. I know with my luck, if I dont do them soon, all of them will go out in the middle of the night, and I wont know what speed Im going...

I read somewhere that the 4157 is slightly brighter than a 4057 (3COP vs. 2 COP).

What is the difference between 3057 and a 4057?

Same for 3157 vs 4157?

I'm thinking the 4057 draws a little less power. Since the tail lenses are clear red, they could use a slightly dimmer bulb to get the necessary brightness.

I have been to 4 different auto parts stores no one has 4057. Is there a place online that sells 4057 bulbs? I have one out and its driving me crazy

AutoZone and Advance Auto have rip-off prices for the bulbs. Go to Wal-Mart. They are like $2/pair at Wal-Mart and $4-$5/pair at AutoZone.

I did the 3157s I believe back in September, and have had no problems with them.

I have replaced two 4057's with 4057's. Had to get them at the dealership. They were more expensive than the others - about $4. But I may try the 3057 or 3157 lamps out and see how they do.

And none of the stores have the 4057's yet.

i have a Q logic custom box in the back that uses the shaker mounting spots..and yea .. mine might be even more annoying

the sub i have weighs 20+ pounds and must be screwed in place AFTER the box is put in the car.. so im looking for good LED's next time one burns so they never have to be replaced again lol
