Lowering Springs

Like everyone else I'd like to lower the car just a wee bit to remove that monster truck look. I've read around and researched the subject a bit but I'm even more confused. I see several people who've added parts after lowering for control arms, steering etc. I'd rather not do anything more than put in the springs. Is this possible without all the other parts? Can I just slip in a set of SR Performance springs and call it a day? Will they fit without causing any problems with a V6 Poney package with 17" wheels? As always thank you for all of your help. I appreciate the opportunity to learn.

I installed the SR springs. I reccommend camber bolts and new strut mounts (GT 500) at them minimum with them. I installed Koni STR.T shocks and struts as well and love the ride.

For me, it's Eibach pro-kit, did not replace a thing, only did a alignment, drop it about 1 1/2" on back, 1 1/4" up front. Better handling not much harder ride on stock 18" rim, but on 20" ............. outch !

I see your on 20" rims, how would you compare the ride with your Koni vs stock ( Wheels & shocks ) ???

Thanks !

Robfather,

With a moddest drop you can get away with just the springs. When you start going lower than you will see a need for more parts down the road to correct the angles.

I would recommend our Steeda Ultra Lights for improved handling with a moddest drop.

PM if you have any questions or if I can provide you with forum pricing.

Best Regards,

TJ

Well since I changed the Konis and the springs at the same time I am not sure. I do know it is a bit harsher ride than stock but the difference in cornering is worth it.

i went with the steeda ultralites approx 4 years ago and havent looked back. honestly, i never felt a difference in the ride quality, they eliminate the monster truck look and give it a more aggressive stance. plus i could def feel a difference in handling. i do have to take most driveways and some speedbumps at an angle but thats only because i also have the CDC classic chin spoiler on the car and i dont want to scrape it TOO much.

Slipnotovk,

Thanks for the feedback on the springs. They are a great addition to any Mustang. The Robfather has seen the light and he will be getting the Steeda springs shortly!!

Glad everything has worked out.

Best Regards,

TJ

So if I were to go with these then I wouldn't need to change out my struts? I'm hoping the answer is yes!

Can you just change out the rear springs or do you have to do all 4 wheels? I only want to drop it about 1" due to the curb on my driveway.
Does the panhard rod need to be changed too?

All 4 wheels, and no, you don't have to change the pan bar, I'm drop 1 1/2" on the rear and there is only 3/8" difference outward on driver side and no rubbing issue ( the more you drop, the more you notice ) you should install it only if you do a major drop and have large rims ( 10" or 10 1/2" ) or a very low offset ( 22-24 mm ) to avoid rubbing issue.
