Angry Ford Service Manual DVD doesn't work ??

I downloaded the 2005-2006 Ford Service Manual DVD & 2007-2008 Ford Service Manual DVD from the http://www.fordcds.com/ site via their torrent files. After burning the DVD and installing it, I get the following message (the volume has expired ... discard disk) when I run the application:
Attachment 20175

Any Idea ??

I have the DVD, and the volume printed on the disc says November 2006. If I change my computer date back 4 months, it works.

Ok. Here is the deal. Your mileage may very. If I were to download the 2007-2008 Ford Service Manual DVD.iso, here is how I would do it. This method is garanteed to work...allegedly. It has a number of steps simplify it to suit your taste.

(1) Download and install Vmware Server (or use Vmware workstation if you already have it)
(2) Create a virtual machine for Windows XP
(3) Set the virtual bios date to 7/23/2006
(4) Disconnect the virtual ethernet adapter
(5) connect the 2007 FSM DVD.iso to your virtual machine
(6) log on to your virtual machine and access the 2007 FSM DVD and run setup.exe to install the product.
(7) Use and enjoy the product.

Yes you will.

If you use virtual server software (vmware), you can do all of this in a virtual environment and not have to worry about the side-effects of turning back the clock on your other applications. That is why vmware is good for these type of things. It also creates a sandbox area for untrusted downloaded software and prevents any unknown viruses and malware from infecting the rest of your machine.

i have the August 2006 volume which expired on October 2006..
i can load it up anytime by setting the system clock back to September 2006..
i don't really have much use for the DVD as i saved every PDF in the workshop manual individually, so the interface is of little to no use anymore

I have the 05-06 and 07 DVD's. The one needs to be set back to before august 05 and the other 06. I changed the date before installing them. But I changed the date back after it was installed, and I just change it before viewing them.

Glad you got it working. I have to back mine up to Jan 06 for it to work.

What's everyone's thoughts on getting a new one let's say in a couple of years? I mean for $25 even once a year. I have an 06 GT, so what could be updated? TSBs? But those are online anyway. Would it be worth it?

If you're trying to download, it's most likely a Torrent download (where you are downloading pieces from a distributed network of servers). You will need BitTorrent download software, AND, if using a router, will need to re-configure your router settings to allow more port address access. Too much effort, so I broke down and bought the Ford Service Manual DVD on eBay for $19.99.

I downloaded it and it's over 5GB. Are you guys using dual layer DVDs to burn the image? I only have single layer. I'm I gonna have to go out and purchase some DL ones?

You'll need a DL dvd and DL burner to burn it to DVD for safe keeping. You are correct that it won't fit on a single layer dvd.

Yes, you'll need a dual layer dvd. If you backdate your computor clock to or before August 31, 2005 before you run the disc it should work.
