Airbag light?
Is the passenger side airbag supposed to always be on(light on the console off), and IF someone or something is in the passenger seat and weighs under aprox 75 lbs then the airbag turns off?, and then the passenger air bag light on the console lights up?
Mine worked that way until I had some paint work done on the passenger front fender, and now the passenger airbag off light is always on, unless someone sits in the passenger seat.

My light is always off (airbag on) unless someone really light sits in the seat or I put a heavy box on the seat, then it comes on. Same with my '05 v6 as well.

The way it used to be is correct, something is wrong now. his is how it hould be: The airbag is off if there is nothing in the seat, and the light is off too. Rather than light up constantly, it turns the light off if it detects nearly no weight on the seat. When you put something less than 75lbs in the seat, the light turns on to remind you that the airbag is off. More than 75lbs, the light turns off and airbag is active.
Just because the light is off doesn't mean the airbag is active. There has to be weight on the seat for the airbag to be active.
If your light is always on even on an empty seat, something is not right. Maybe the seat sensor is messed up.

Well that explains it! I always thought because the light was off it meant the airbag was on, which then always made me wonder why in the world it would be on if there was nothing in the seat and then turn off when it sensed something under 75 lbs in the seat.

Some manufacturers leave the airbad off light lit all the time the bag is off, even with nothing in the seat. (VW for one)
I'm glad Ford decided to make it smarter than that. That light would be annoying all the time.

So mine is working incorrect then...I did not think the airbag off light should be on all of the time (when no one is in the seat). Next oil change Ill have them look at it.

The light should be off unless there is some weight on the seat, under 75lbs or so. Over that amount, the light turns off and the airbag becomes active.
