I was surfing around at Consumer Guide auto section website and I read this:

1991 Ford Mustang: Four-cylinder engines gained two spark plugs per cylinder and 15 horsepower, now rated at 105. Convertible tops now folded closer to the body. Automatic transmissions added a brake/shift interlock.
Is it true that '91 (and I'm assuming '92-93's) 4 cylinders had two spark plugs PER cylinder? Whether its true or not I never heard that before.

*edit* sorry, It's consumer guide, not consumer report

Yeah, that's true. Think the new HEMI has that as well. It's been done on different engines since forever. More power & fewer emissions is the desired goal, with the latter being more important in recent years.

I've also seen Rangers with that engine.

I knew other engines had 2/cyl but didn't know the Ford 2.3 had it. I guess you learn something new every couple of months.

Here is some pics of my 93 2.3 dual plug. All stock except for the alternator upgrade, removed air silencer, and drop-in K&N air filter.

I believe the motor was used in Rangers first then in 91-93 mustangs. This motor jumped hp from 88 to 105. I enjoy mine, not a 5.0, but plenty fast enough.

No ricer sound here. It sounds like a 4 cylinder, i have a turbo muffler on it, so i get a little rumble there, but nothing real real noticable.

mine sounds like a turd because of the cheapo muffler that was used when it was replaced, with the crusty old tailpipe reattached to it...I gotta do someting about that. It definately sounds like a 4cyl at 3-4000 rpm

Glowstang93...i wish i had your car...
