Went to the strip with the supercharger a few weeks ago for the first time, ran a best of 12.57 @ 110+ mph in the 1/4 mile with a full interior and full tank of gas (removed the jack and spare, though). Ran the car with 17" Bullitt wheels and drag radials instead of my heavier 18" fanblades. Car weighed 3,700 lbs with me in it, according to our local truck scales.

Tomorrow will be my second day racing with the supercharger, so to I figured I could get rid of some more unnecessary weight to see how much difference it'll make at the track. In addition to switching wheels/tires and removing jack/spare, today I also removed the passenger (power/heated) seat, rear seat back/bottom, and will run just 1/4 tank of gas. This should be an additional 135 lbs gone from the car, bringing the race weight down to about 3,565 lbs with me in it.

It's amazing how easily the seats come out (4 bolts, and one wire connector for the heat & power motor)....

Charcoal Bullitts with stock Pirellis up front & BFG 275/40/17 drag radials out back....

Last time at the track, I had a lot of hood flutter, so I just installed Shelby billitt hood pins....

Weather is supposed to be dry, cool, and overcast. Temps in the mid 50's. Hoping to run 12.40's at 111 mph in the 1/4 mile. Would really love to run below 8 seconds at 87 + mph in the 1/8 mile in the process.

+1,

looks odd w/o the seats!

Thanks guys. Yep, looks odd without the seats, especially sitting inside the car.

I normally don't like seeing gutted cars at the track as I think a street/strip car should run the track like it drives on the street, so this'll likely be the only time I run it without all the seats.

If I take enough weight out of the car, though, I might be able to catch Tom's 11.74 run!

try covering your grill with something also. Cardboard or a piece of plexi glass might work.

Spent 8 hours at the drag strip yesterday. It's the last weekend of the season at our local track, so it was packed with hundreds and hundreds of racers! Only got in 2 runs the entire day, but both were my best ever runs and exceeded my goals for the day!

1st run was better based on mph, while the 2nd run was better based on ET's. Spun a bit in 1st gear on the 1st run, so I lowered the drag radials to just 18 psi for the 2nd run (dead hooked with a 1.80 60' time).

1st run 12.345 @ 111.93 mph, 2nd run 12.338 @ 110.59 mph. Both runs were below 8 seconds (finally) in the 1/8 mile, and I even ran 90+ mph in the 1/8 mile on the 1st run!

Here's the timeslips (I'm in the right lane, car #4164)...

Thank you!

You would have been proud of the DHG '01 Bullitt that was at our local track yesterday running high 12's and low 13's. Not sure what mods he'd done, but that was a quick Bullitt!!! And, there was a Mustang II funny car there - haven't seen one of those is 20+ years!

that is SWEET! :nice:

Thats probably a decently modded bullitt. They're supposed to run high 13s stock (I shame dmine with my 14+ runs :shame) pretty cool stuff

any pics of the II?

I didn't take any pics at the track. The II was a black funny car that sounded wicked. I got a glimpse at the engine briefly in the pits when the body was tilted up. It was a big block V8, but I couldn't tell which one.

Weight reduction is like free horsepower. Major focus of our rebuild has been weight loss. Nice runs

Now that's getting creative! Sounds like a blast.
